Kate Sessions Birthday Nov. 8
Kate O. Sessions was a pioneer, horticulturist, and landscape architect, she founded the Mission Hills Nursery. As an innovator in her field, she agreed with the city of San Diego, to plant 100 trees per year, and soon became the first woman to receive the prestigious Frank N. Meyer medal of the American Genetic Association.
You can find a bronze statue of Miss. Kate O. Sessions in the beautiful Balboa Park, located in Downtown San Diego.Kate Sessions Park in Soledad Rd, also was named after her and is a peaceful and beautiful park with an amazing view of the entire city of San Diego.
Kate Sessions park is a great spot to picnic and/or do some activities. It is connected to a good amount of kids friendly trails that expand north of the park, where some small animals can be found as well as some beautiful wild flowers. Yoga, kids karate, and soccer lessons are just some of the fun activities you can see happening at any time during the day.
